SOCHE's Summer Internship Program provides opportunities for engineering and science students to gain valuable experience working at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) through the Graduate School of Engineering & Management. AFIT is located on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and has a long history of graduate research and education.
The SOCHE Summer Internship Program hosts students from higher education institutions throughout the United States and provides students an opportunity to develop scientific and engineering skills and competence through participation in cutting-edge research projects in a graduate educational environment. This experience also provides a "head start" for students that pursue a MS or Ph.D. at AFIT in the future.
Must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
The application deadline is February 8, 2013.

Applications for the Summer Internship Program are submitted electronically by creating a SOCHEIntern account and selecting the AFIT Summer Intern Program. The application must be filled out completely and include three references, a résumé, and unofficial transcript. The résumé and transcript should be uploaded during the application process as PDF files.
The student intern selection criteria includes: transcript indicating academic field and level of achievement, résumé, professional references, and a match between student interests and available projects.
There are a limited number of intern positions available and applications should be completed in a timely manner. The deadline to apply is 8 February 2013.
The selection of interns will be finalized between March and May 2013. Selected interns will be notified by email.
SOCHE will sponsor internships any time between 1 May and 30 September 2013. Interns should consult the program coordinator upon arrival and agree upon exact stop dates. Intern schedules are flexible within the following guidelines:
